The use of the inner mould, which gives the ribs that typical and pleasant sinuous look, makes every piece unique due to the slight asymmetries, result of this typical (distinctive) work process.
This uniqueness is achieved through the various elements and the way they are worked upon by the luthier: depth and width of the fluting, arching and thickness distribution of the plates, edges thickness, length and proportions of the corners, purflings, shaping of the scroll, cut of soundholes. The way with which these actions are performed puts the author’s trademark on the instrument, the luthier’s personal style.
